Set in the near future when humans have begun to colonise Mars, HESTIA will follow astronaut JULIA as she says goodbye to her daughter CORALIE. Her transport shuttle has been knocked off course and irreparably damaged by undetected space debris and she is running out of oxygen. In her final moments, she asks Coralie to describe what she is seeing through the window of the house. As Coralie talks, Julia uses VR goggles and her computer’s AI, HESTIA, to generate the environment, allowing her to spend time on Earth – and speak to her daughter for the last time.
HESTIA will be a character-driven, compassionate shot film that will showcase the bond that exists between a mother and daughter – a tie that is so strong it can traverse space and time. Its emotional plot will be heightened by its striking visuals, moving dialogue, and surprising twist at the end.
HESTIA will take place in two locations: on a spaceship and in a forest clearing on Earth.
